So when a groom to be has to be dragged along by his bride and his mother in law to the engagement shoot - you could be fooled into thinking it's going to be painful...do you know what though? If I had a penny for every time this happens and then the groom to be knocks it out the park - I'd be rich!

Here's the thing - engagement shoots are to help the photographer get to know you, what makes you relax, what angles are good for you and most importantly for YOU to get to know the photographer!  The camera and person behind it are going to be hanging out with you, your family and friends for the most of your big day so it really does make sense to get to know them a little first!

I like to do the engagement shoots a month or two before the wedding day so that it's a fun thing for you to look forward to.  You've paid for almost everything by now. The dress is chosen, cars booked, you've checked that your mum's outfit doesn't clash with the mother in laws, told Nan the location 50 million times and explained to your second cousin twice removed why they can't bring the man they met down the pub last night!  So now for a bit of relaxation; a wander in the park, a quick drive to a quirky location you or I spotted the other week and the chance for a giggle.

When I met Lauren and Chris in the park the other week it was clear we were going to have a lot of fun on their wedding day.  We wandered about chatted about how the wedding plans were going and found some spots to take a few family pics. I think they worked out quite well - but I'll let you be the judge x
