'I'd say that we winged it a lot, but as long as you know what's important to you (I spent far more time on the little gifts and the activities for the kids than I did thinking about decorations), you'll enjoy yourself.  And the point is to enjoy yourself!  If it's not going to be fun, you might as well do it with no guests in a registry office, because getting married is quite administrative.  If you want a wedding, make it reflect your personality.'  Gemma

Top advice from Gemma!

When Gemma and Andrew explained their day I knew I had to shoot it.  Their plan was simple for their perfect day; a locally sourced, relaxed gathering with family and friends.

As we all know though, a day that runs smoothly where the hosts can relax takes a lot of hard planning beforehand, so here are some of the elements they gathered together to make their day appear effortless.

VENUE: Berrow Court in Edgbaston - It's a beautiful venue that makes your wedding feel like an exclusive party in a grand home.  Dark corners and imposing staircases contrast with airy, high ceilinged rooms with huge windows and quirky conservatory areas.  The grounds are vast with lots of greenery, your guests would never know that you are on the edge of the city centre.  The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Possibly my fave venue this year.

OUTFITS: Gemma's dress was awesome.  Not fixated on 'The Dress' when she started out... once she visited the Couture Company in the Custard Factory, she fell for them and you can totally see why!  Individually designed for her it was gorgeous, floaty, flattering and easy to wear for a full on long day.  Not to be outdone, Andrew looked equally chic in his Turner and Sanderson suit and Liberty print shirt.

FLOWERS: The talented Carole at Tuckshop flowers created bunches of light and airy loveliness that fitted with their theme perfectly.

ENTERTAINMENT: Having a little girl of their own they wanted their friends' children to be a part of the day so entertainment was key.  There were heaps of games to play including tattoos and game cards by Djeco and a fabulous storyteller Cath had eveyone spellbound late into the afternoon!

For the adults, the entertainment came in the form of Jo at Hello Sunshine who creates on the spot, swift and rather fabulous mini portrait of your guests - what's not to love?!  I was so chuffed with mine I've kept it as my profile pic :)

DETAILS: There were so many beautiful little details - Andrew had commissioned their own coat of arms with a little help from Hayden and Badges Plus  so everyone could become a part of their clan for the day. The favours were miniature jars of Andrew's favourite raspberry tea from Bird and Blend and favours came in the shape of shortbread by Chitty's Cakes

All in all a perfect day from start to finish!  If you want to see more images - just click on the small photograph below and it will take you to the gallery.

Whatever plans you have for your day, be they big or small do get in touch - I'd love to hear about it! x
